Nursery

One thing is certain...we aren't afraid of color in this house!! Here is the color I picked out for the nursery....it is called "sassy violet". I always wanted a purple room and Travis said if we bought this house I could have a purple room.....here it is!!

Kitchen color

I love this color that we painted in the kitchen. It is called "apple". You can also see our new retro clock that lights up and part of our shotglass collection.

Living room before

Here is a picture of Dad, Travis, Terri (Mom in the pink behind Travis) looking at old water damage in the living room ceiling. It happened in 1995 and the previous owners never fixed the ceiling, but they did fix what caused it...a leaky roof. Dining room is in background.

Living room

This is the living room after we (meaning Mom, Dad, Travis & Howard) painted, ripped up old carpet, etc. I am waiting until after Christmas to get new drapes.

Officially ours!

Well, we closed on the house Sept 12th. That morning I had money, but no place to live and that afternoon I had a house and now I have no money!! Ha!

Travis has been working like crazy, along with my parents and his on painting the inside of the house so we can move in. Technically Travis is already in...well, he has a mattress on the floor, a few clothes in a bag and the cat over at the house. I, along with our dog, have been living with my parents all this week...trying to stay away from the paint fumes, which are not good for me or the baby. My Mom and Dad are still over at the house, as I type this, painting the trim in the living room and dining room while waiting on our new furniture to be delivered to the house....what wonderful parents I have! I took off all next week so I can unpack all the boxes that we will hopefully be able to move in this weekend. I will try to post pictures as soon as I get my computer unpacked so I can upload my camera!! (The camera installation disks are packed too....I would have installed it on my parents pc if I would have had them!)

Monday, Sept 19th, is going to be a good day...I hope! We have our big ultrasound in the morning and will hopefully be finding out if we are having a boy or a girl...depending on if the baby cooperates!!! Then I was hoping to start my registry. We will see!

Friday!!!

rain rain go away, my house needs to get painted today

They started power washing the house yesterday, had to do two rounds of it. Unfortunately it is raining like cats and dogs here so they won't get to scrape the paint off or start the actual painting. Bummer.

Yep, we did it

Travis and I bought a house. We don't officially close on it until September 12th, but we have already started picking out paint colors and are trying to arrange our furniture. We closed on the current house we are in on Monday and will be moving out Sept 4th....."where are we going to stay?" you ask...my parents are letting us move into the basement for that week before we close....hopefully our cat & dog won't wear out the welcome too early that week! We are having the house painted this Thursday (to help with the appraisal and insurance). The house is definitely one you would drive by, the exterior paint is rough looking and dirty, but the inside isn't in that bad of shape. The owners just painted a latex based paint over an oil based paint and it is peeling like crazy. That happened in our current house too so we are used to it. The only problem this time is I can not be around the fumes to help paint (darn!). I guess the whole house will have to be painted (atleast with the oil based primer) before I can move in. That will probably take a few days so I won't be moving in until probably the 17th. On a little side note, something else we have to look forward to this September is our 19-20 week ultrasound.....we get to find out if it is a boy or a girl!!

DMB concert

Well, My hubby, his friend David & I just got back from the Dave Matthews Band concert in Columbus, Ohio. It was on Tuesday, but we stayed over night and came back yesterday. It was a great concert! This was the first concert I have been to that when I left I wasn't partially deaf for a while. The song was wonderful, but maybe because it was an ampitheater it didn't keep the sound around you the whole time...I don't know. DMB played for a long time..... Well, I need to go because I have a lot of work to do. I have been off all week from work so it is kind of backing up on me!!

This is it

NO MORE! I am finished fixing things and updating things on this house. It is officially on the market (as of May 11th). Travis just finished the front porch and the back porch. No more...I am not putting anymore money into this house. The houses around us are selling for $10,000 more than our house and we have more square feet and a bigger yard. It is time for us to save the money for us to put down on our next house instead of putting it into this one that we are selling.
Ughh.....I am so tired tonight....I am heading to bed early I think. It has been a busy day! Didn't go to work (took annual leave) and went with Travis to his doctor's appointment...picked out his new glasses and waited on the, went to the grocery store and cleaned the house...it is being shown to the realtors tomorrow at my Mother In-laws office (she is also our real estate agent). Anyhoo....I am tired so I am heading to bed. Good night!

Happy Mother's Day

I know I am a little late to wish all the mothers on the internet a Happy Mother's Day, but I wasn't late to wish mine. We (meaning my sisters & their kids) all met over at my parents' house and had dinner, talked, played with the kids and gave Mom her gifts (flowers that she wanted for the yard...climbing rose bush..etc).
I hope everyone had a great day and again, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

It looks GOOD!

I have to say...our house looks a heck of a lot better then it did we Travis first purchased the house 5 years ago. Travis & I cleaned and straightened everything Friday/Saturday and when we finished I looked around and thought..."Man, this house looks GREAT!". I wanted to take video of it because I don't know if it will ever look that good again!
Well, we are officially putting the house on the market Tuesday evening. Travis' Mom is coming over with the papers for us to sign. (She is our realtor) I am ready...I just wish we could find a house we liked. Travis & I seem to find the house that has been on the market for years...had no interest in it what so ever and then we look at it, like it, and it sells to someone else that day or the next. ugghh....When will it be our turn?? I am not in a hurry though...my parents said we could move in with them if our house sells and we haven't found anything yet. My parents don't want us to settle for something just because we need to get out of our house.

CLose up of the new floor in the bathroom. Sorry, my hair is on the floor...sometimes I think I shred worse than the dog!! I just mobbed the floor yesterday too!!! Posted by Hello

The new floor in the bathroom Posted by Hello

Are we done yet??

I know my mother is going to have a field day with that title....."cakes are done...people are FINISHED!" Anyhoo...we (meaning Travis & Howard) fixed the sink in the bathroom only to discover another leak in another pipe. Well, they got that one fixed and later that night we found a leak in the pipe they had taken apart in order to fix the previous leak....Travis went back to Lowes (I told him we really should buy stock in that company...we have been there more in the past year...I think they are starting to recognize our faces!!) to pick up the stuff to fix it. We will see when we get home if it worked....kepp your fingers crossed!
The floor is in and looks great! I got down and scrapped all the clue marks that my hubby & father in-law left and gave it a good cleaning....looks good. We added a few decorative touches to the bathroom last night so it is cleaned and ready. (we have a lady coming to look at the house on Sat....it isn't on the market yet.) Travis is now working on cleaning up the basement (organizing the boxes, finishing the laundry & mobbing the floor. I cleaned the bathroom (top to bottom) and did a little in the kitchen. I am cleaning out cabinets & cubbards tonight. The food we haven't used in a while is getting taken to a food bank or being thrown out...I need the storage room!
Our friends from Key West, Fl came in over the weekend and are leaving Friday (bummer), but they came over Monday night and Travis made dinner for us. He got up early Monday morning and started smoking a "Boston Butt" or Pork butt or something. Anyhoo, he made 2 and they were (are) wonderful!! We had so much that it fed all four of us that night, Travis & I everynight & day this week, his parents, my parents and my sisters & their kids and we STILL have more! I told my Mom I was going to bring her more tomorrow. There was just so much, but it was worth it...it was so good. Oh, we even gave a little to our dog & cat...they loved it too!

Well, that is all for now. I will try to post some pictures of the floor tonight.

It never fails

Good grief...can't something so like it is suppose to?! We got the flooring on Saturday. Travis & I started taking up the old stuff and that when ok. We went to take out the vanity and the pipes to the sink wouldn't shut off...wouldn't turn even an inch. So, Travis hit it...tried again...nothing. We figured we would wait until today to work on the vanity. We continued our work and then finished for the evening...ate dinner and such. A few hours later I went into the kitchen to get a drink and I heard water dripping downstairs. I went down the steps and say water pouring from the ceiling onto the floor, our clothes (our washer & dryer is downstairs) both clean & dirty....it was everywhere. I yelled for Travis to get down here now. He came running and then tried to shut off the water. We finally had to shut off the main water valve into the house...this was at 10:30 pm remember. Anyhoo, we spent sometime moving clothes and drying up the mess. We had to go with out water all night and all day...got water back about 2:30. I am glad to have water, but now we have been without a toilet since about 10 this morning. (Remember...1 bathroom house.) I went to my parents about 2 pm and stayed with them for a little bit....my hubby says the toilet should be back in about 1-2 hours from now. The flange & the rubber thingy that goes under the toilet was wrong so they had to go get another one. Oh, the finally got the vanity out, and put the floor down. When they put that vanity back in they (meaning my hubby & his Dad) discovered that the sink was not draining AT ALL! So, they are also trying to figure out what is wrong with that. Simply tasks never turn out to be simple, at least when it comes to this house! I better get back to the laundry...we are having to re-wash almost every single article of clothing that was downstairs...it is going to be a long night and I have 1 hell of a week coming up at work....when it rains, it pours.
